Hey guys, I would really appreciate some feedback on this track I made. I've been working on it for a really long time and I put a lot of emotion and effort behind it. Please tell me what you think and how you would improve it! Thank you!!

Sound Design / Re: Sampling Kicks

Most of the time, it's not about how you process your kicks every time, as opposed to how your kick sounds with your specific track, which changes every time you create a new project. This in mind, you will make your kick sound different as you make the song, instead of making it a set sound and proceeding with the rest of the song afterward.

It really depends on what sound or genre you're going for. Personally, I don't think you should over do it, unless maybe if you're producing a synth-heavy dance track. If your sounds are good quality, well mixed, and full, you won't need 30-40 tracks to make a good sounding song.

With enough processing you can get a Massive white noise LFO sound pretty good. I personally think massive is easier to use in this case, just turn off oscillators, turn on your white noise, turn the LFO to whatever ratio you want it in, put it in the white noise, and program the massive lowpass filter to the white noise too. With this, you can automate the filter and even bring in a macro which you could also automate to your liking (that's what I do.) That's basic, but with enough layers, reverb, eq, and other processing, you can make it sound really personalized and original! Personally, I like to mess around with Logic's EnVerb with this kind of stuff.

Sound Design / Stacked Chords Dillon Francis Sylenth?
« on: January 12, 2016, 05:47:47 pm »
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew how to make that stacked chords sound you hear in some Dillon Francis songs in Sylenth/Serum: especially like his new Omen remix. Thank you!

I must say, one of the producers that never seizes to amaze me is Feed Me. He never disappoints and his creative/technical skills (in my opinion) are rarely challenged in electronic music.

Mixing/Mastering / Re: Is mastering always neccesary?
« on: January 12, 2016, 05:36:38 pm »
I think what needs to be kept in mind is that the definition of mastering has changed over time. Whereas back in the old days, mastering only meant making the songs in an album or collection sound good together, now it has shifted quite a bit. Of course, mastering has kept that old definition, but now it's more aimed to increase sound quality and to avoid listening fatigue. In my opinion (maybe not in Mat Zo's) I believe it's important to have at least some sort of basic mastering techniques that you do for each of your productions (be it a basic mastering channel or a step by step process to master your bounced file.) You will see that as you practice mixing and mastering more and more, your productions will be of higher quality in less time. Not only this, but keep in mind that mastering also requires a certain ear that can be developed with experience and time. Practice it and it will help you a lot!
