Mixing/Mastering / Song really low quality on soundcloud.
« on: May 13, 2016, 03:11:42 pm »
So, I tried uploading my WIP to sc and it sounds really low quality, and I mean a lot :D. Do you know, where the problem could be?

I read everywhere, that rear-ported monitors shouldn't be placed up against the wall. I would have my monitors like 35cm (14inches) away from the wall (and they'd also be aimed at an angle, so the distance from the wall would be around 50cm (20inches), I don't know whether that counts).

Could you please give me more insight on this topic?

Also Yamaha HS5's could be an option

Solid choice, but, i'd recommend the 8inch cone at least.

reason being, you'd spend less money on the 8 inch together, than you would with a five inch and a sub.

I'll always suggest to save a little extra to get that push past consumer status into a low grade professional/amateur. The quality difference is amazing.

But are 8 inch monitors good for a small room? I have a 3x4m room.

That is why I am buying front ported monitors. But thanks for advice!

Hi, I was wondering if there is anything wrong with the placement of monitors, or if you have any advice. The room dimensions are 4x3m

They are my first monitors, I have done everything on my headphones so far. Unfortunately, I cannot raise my budget :( The other possible choice is JBL-LSR305, but it has sub on the back. Is it really that bad to have it that way near the wall?

Hi,
I am looking for Studio Monitors. They are going to be placed near the wall, so they probably need to have sub in the front. My budget is 200USD per speaker. Rokit 5G3's are meeting my requirements best so far, but people say they are not that good. Any Ideas?

Mixing/Mastering / Re: Sidechain using Volume Shaper

I also use volume automation in FL for sidechaining. It feels much more visual, and you can basically do anything with the volumes. When you use compression, I feel restricted to the drums.

So, I got to the point, where I think I am not progressing at all. I mean my music has been doing pretty awesome, getting to all the promotion channels, and I am kinda proud of myself. But it feels like I am not progressing as much (although people tell me, that I am still getting technically better, but my sound design is lacking probably). So that makes me demotivated and I rarely open FL Studio nowdays. And I really feel shit, because I want to make music. I am thinking about trying the Pomodoro Technique, but does forcing yourself into music help? And I always  tell myself to watch some tutorials, but it's the motivation that stops me. (here is my soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/fadexmusic). What should I do?

This could work. The mix needs to be improved a lot, the levels. Sidechain more. Cut the lows of synths and add more subby subbass. So yeah, a little messy, but awesome style!

Thats quite on point! I would put the snare in the first part of the drop more in the middle, and make it more full. Also the intro melody+sound, well the whole intro is pretty strange.

Holy damn. Sounds amazing so far! :D Waiting for the hugely sidechained 4/4 drums. (I am imagining something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNmCC4bj2q4)
