Got that Kill Paris swang.  What's "Chill Harris"...is that a new or alternate moniker for him?

kp changed his name to "chill harris" after the terrorist attacks on paris last year

definitely grey, from the sc description:

Huge shout out to my dawgs Grey and Joe Trapanese who helped me record this record! :)

i've been seeing zedd catch some flack for this being a "sellout track" but i dig it quite a bit! certainly has more oomph than most of the stuff on true colors.

https://www.izotope.com/en/products/effects-instruments/vinyl/ for all your lo-fi needs! it's F R E E ! ! !

i was sad when they discontinued it, i'm glad to see it back! definitely a plugin to check out if you're lookin' to add some warmth to your track!

holy shit when that beat kicks in at 1:38! fucking INSANE panning on that percussion, very sophie-esque (i'm assuming that's the general feel you were going for).

couple things i'd tweak: when the beat kicks in at 1:38 to throughout the song, i'm not really hearing any sub. like i can hear a bass sine wave but there's no LOW low end really present, at least from what i can hear. gotta have that B A S S!!

also! in the beginning leading up to the drop (0:00 - 1:38) it's really hard (for me at least) to find the rhythm to the track. it was a lot less confusing after that point, but i feel like the percussion at that beginning part could be tightened up a bit rhythmically so it could be easier to follow.

WIPs / Re: Give me some suggestions for my Sleepwalking Remix!!

the vocals are too quiet in general. you should a) make the vocals louder to begin with and b) make sure they're not overpowered by that bass, like submelodic said earlier. the concept overall is great tho! i like the riff you have goin on with the bassline throughout the track.

i dabble a bit in hip hop. love me some danny brown, childish gambino, clipping., chance the rapper, and some others. recently snagged the big grams collab between phantogram and big boi, it's p solid.

i also listen to a bit of rock. been going through sleater-kinney's discography lately (coming hot off of reading carrie brownstein's memoir you should read it too). i also was briefly into sleeping with sirens a couple years ago, still come back to their first two albums sometimes for nostalgia. other rock records i've been spinnin lately: deerhoof's "breakup songs" and the "rookie of the year" ep by derek (a local band).

there's most likely some more stuff i'm missing but yeah some good shit here

this is about the fifth year i've been doing this, and i've come from attempting to dick around in openmpt to becoming somewhat competent at fl. i've learned a ridiculous amount as time's gone by--like a lot of other people in this thread i listen to my old tracks from time to time and laugh at the shitty execution. i feel like i'm finally really close to actually full-on knowing what i'm doing now and it's invigorating!

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: What's your go-to reverb plugin?
« on: January 12, 2016, 10:48:17 pm »
i really thought i wouldn't be the only one rollin with tal reverb II! guess i'm wrong

fruity reeverb 2 was my old go-to verb, it did the job. i still like reeverb 2's ui tho, recommended if you need a good visual look at what the parameters you're messing with are doing to the sound.

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: Good free Compressor/Eq plugins?
« on: January 12, 2016, 10:45:41 pm »
i think its much better to practice EQ and compression with the ones in built in your DAW, the best EQ plug ins are from fab filter imo, fab filter Q2

pro-q2 isn't free tho. he asked about freeware eqs and compressors.
