Honestly layering is stupid in my opinion. You can really mess up the low end by doing this (even if you are good at EQ'ing)

It can be a nice place to start from but I don't really believe in using the exact sound without at the very least a little bit of manipulation to make it your own.

Robert Babicz.
The guy has been in the industry forever and has so many club classics I feel like. He isn't huge in America by any means but his songs are so good if your into minimal and techno.

I think the key is to keep a nice smooth sub bass. Personally, I like throwing the frequ modeffect on the bass so it kind of...ripples.
For percussion just use acoustic samples. Sounds so much better

This is fantastic. I think you should have a wider/longer release kick at the beginning for more punch on the synth shots.
