Another more affordable one, except you need to purchase XLR to quarter inch converters

edit: or you know.... your monitors have a quarter inch input (90% chance they do)

I am going to try this one, crossing my fingers it doesn't suck because it costs half the price of the first one

Hey everyone,

I just bought new monitors, and for the first time since I started producing years ago, I now have two pairs. I want to be able to set up both next to each other and switch between the two pairs for referencing.

I know a lot of control stations exist, l was recommended the Mackie Knob by a friend, but that seems like a whole lot of extra crap and volume knobs that I don't need. So my question is, is there some sort of box or control station that just has a L/R XLR input and two pairs of XLR outputs and a switch? I feel like it should exist, but everything i search turns up empty or full of other stuff that shares the same keywords.

right now my set up looks like this (as I am sure yours does too)
Computer->soundcard->sub->monitors

I want to try to make this somehow
                                                                             newmonitors
Computer->soundcard->sub->SWITCH<
                                                                               oldmonitors

Does anyone know? Thanks

Headphones and monitors both have their advantages and disadvantages, and a lot of personal preference goes into which pair of either you purchase. What Ocular said about treating your room is correct, but honestly if you have the opportunity to own both, you should not choose between the two. What is arguably more important than having the best pair of headphones/monitors, is having as many references as possible for your mix. What sounds great on your headphones might not sound as good on a different pair or on another system. You ideally want to be able to switch between headphones and monitors while you are mixing.

I use soundsnap for all my foley. All professional grade sounds and they have a good search feature. It is not free though
