amazing Danny, really fan of your work!

Thanks!  ;D happy you've been digging my stuff

These are sick man! I see the seven lions inspiration haha, he really got me into this genre too.

Hell yeah, I feel theres a ton of possibilities to work with in the genre, a lot of room to have fun experimenting.

100/10 tunes, but you know I think that way haha

Thanks bro haha ;)

Sorry but I'm not gonna be that kind xD

"Danny Chen & Leolani - All In A Day"
Drums really need work imo, specially the snare, sounds quite flat. The vocal stands out too much and imo it's not really integrated in the track.

"Danny Chen - Hope (Original Mix)"
The build-up feels weird, mostly because of the snare rythm and the growl. Drop definitely needs more impact, at both 1:36 and 3:40, it was a huge disappointment to me.

It's all good man :)  I'm always looking to improve,  each track is just another opportunity to learn and grow.  By drums sounding flat, can you be more specific, is it lacking any low end for instance (not sure how much soundcloud compression affects it).  The vocal used to be quieter but in the end we decided we wanted it to be louder like this.  I plan to rework my drums for my next track.

Also for the hope "drop", what do you think is missing for more impact?  It's not really suppose to be a club banger.

Mixing/Mastering / Re: Tell us your master chain!

Like many others have said, usually got a AOM invisible limiter on the master as the final plugin in the chain.

Before that I have first waves SSLChannel to color the sound a little bit, Doc fear eq to boost if needed, SSLComp with some light compression, ozone multiband.  I'm in love with Fabfilter Pro Q 2, which I use for eqing everything.

Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Re: Some tips on writing chord melodies

Hook Theory is amazing, I use it to help write my chords and melodies :) and read that book! It literally has everything you need to know in terms of music theory for dance tracks (no extra stuff).

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share some melodic dubstep tracks from my recently released album on Armada Music's Statement label.

I'm primarily a trance producer but ever since I first heard Seven Lion's music, I fell in love with the sound and it really inspired me to tinker with making dubstep.  These two tracks are the labor of the past 2 years or so of learning a new genre than from what I'm used to.  I definitely plan on making more this year and trying to get better at it.

Let me know if you like it, and if you hate it, let me know too :)

If there's any questions on how I made any of these, I'll be happy to answer as well. Oh and maybe check out my album ;) (mostly trance and these dubstep tracks)

Thanks!

I <3 melodic dubstep.  overall I think the production is really clean.  tone of the track starts off dark but I think during the drops its pretty uplifting.  ;)

It's not easy, and I don't think its really possible to stay motivated 24/7.. :(

I myself go thru stages where I can be inspired for months then go into a deep lull.  But tbh I think the best way is to make a habit of just making music so even if your not inspired you'll still be able to work.

I a lot of times get inspired by listening to other's work, like if its technically impressive and blows my mind it makes me excited to open up my DAW and fool around in it.
