My goal is to put out my EP by the end of the month and release another one later in the year.

It's tough to choose just one, but I'd probably have to go with Purity Ring - Grandloves (feat. Young Magic). Everything about that song is beautiful and inspiring: The vocals and the way they interchange and glide over the instrumental, the waves of dreamy synths and vocal samples, the light percussion and heavy, dark bass. It creates an atmosphere of its own. The 4-minute mark is pure bliss in every sense of the word.

I was wondering if anyone is currently producing tracks like this?
TEED's solo work is probably the closest you can get. Not really moombahton but it's got the same 8-bit indie pop feel to it.

Aphex Twin, Arca, Bjork, Jon Hopkins, Ash Koosha, Flying Lotus, FKA twigs, Radiohead (when they make electronic music) and Baths.

I have no idea what makes me different. I just do what I do.

Other than music, the weather has been my biggest influence on the EP that I'm working on, winter weather specifically. I find so much inspiration in wind, rain and the night sky. Colours are also a big influence for me. Apparently it's called "sound-to-colour synethesia". I relate different types of music and sounds with colours and palates. For instance Talamak by Toro y Moi is a "purple song" to me. Nature and stories are also big influences for me.

My uncle was starting to making beats on FL Studio back in 2008 and I was pretty intrigued by it, but I never thought about giving it a try. It was only after getting into electronic music (Daft Punk in particular) in 2011 that I started becoming increasingly interested in production and considered making music of my own. I finally started producing in July 2012 and made an awful "chiptune" track called Level Up on a browser program called "Aviary Music Creator" which ended up closing down, and led me to start using the copy of FL Studio that my uncle gave me. The rest is history.

So fucking good. This is my song of the year so far and will definitely end up on my top 10 of 2015. The lyrics are touching, the production is beautiful and inspiring and Ty$ vocals are so fitting to the atmosphere of the music. This is honestly one of my favourite Kanye song in years. As for No More Parties In LA, I need more. What I heard was so good. Hearing Kanye and Kendrick spit over a Madlib beat was unexpected in the best way possible. Kendrick continues to prove that he's one of best rappers of the new school.

Cannot wait for Feb 11 when SWISH is released. He's also releasing new music every Friday like he did back in 2010.

I want the EP that I'm working on to be the musical equivalent of these images

Nope. I can play a few tunes on the piano and basic chords on the guitar but other than that I have no instrumental skill.

Purity Ring, Crystal Castles, Bjork, Aphex Twin, Kanye West, Baths, Flume, Toro y Moi, Jai Paul, Clams Casino and Flying Lotus

Tennyson is such a great duo, and this EP is no exception. I swear I listened to their song "For You" soooo many times last year. I like the inclusion of vocals on this EP. Is Luke the one who sings them?

Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Re: How did you learn how to make music?
« on: January 07, 2016, 11:51:49 pm »
I taught myself basic music theory and I learned how to do things like sidechain and design sounds from YouTube tutorials. It ended up abandoning YT tutorials and figured out the rest myself.

I make music purely because it's super fun and a good way to express myself musically. I have pieces of art that I can truly say are my own and that's something really cool to me.
