Thank You everyone for the suggestions, ill be sure to try them out. It seems most of the clutter comes from lots of different accent samples/sounds. Things like drum fill, special types of percussion and vocal shouts or chops. A lot of those have their own tracks because they use different pitch effects or other effects.

I find myself always getting to the point in my tracks where i have close to a 100 different tracks in my DAW (Logic Pro) and it gets not only laggy but overwhelming. I think to myself constantly that there must be a better way but i cant seem to find any tips online. Each and every sample i drag in or sound i make needs a completley different volume level or specific plugin that makes it need its own specific track.

I know you can send tracks to Aux channels to cut down on this, but that only gets me so far.

How do you guys cut down on the amount of tracks you have in one project?

Mixing/Mastering / Re: Adding/Matching Bass to a Sample [Help!]

Did you try just a sine wave? Sorry if that's a dumb question. That clip you posted is quite discordant and has lots of harmonics, so you'd probably want to keep the bass sound underneath as simple as possible. Stuff in the really low bass frequencies should always be pretty simple
You actually solved my problem! I tried just a plain sine but it just wasnt enough, but that gave me the idea of loading the sample into a sampler and i added lower harmonics, lowpassed it and it worked! Thank You!

I've been having the hardest time matching a bass to a sample synth loop that i mangled into an awesome sound. I cant seem to get any sort of bass i write to match the sound or beat of the sample nicely.

Does anyone have any tips on how to make a bass to use with a sample?

Thanks!

Well...what's not fitting? the notes or the bass texture?
if you use ableton you can use audio to midi and then you should know what notes are playing

Its more of the bass texture/sound. I converted the sound to MIDI, i use logic.

I'd recommend a macbook pro. I know people say "They're too expensive for the power you actually get" but i think just the overall quality of the parts and the OS in general is unparalleled. Besides, mac has always had a prominent place in music production. I got my macbook pro 13in retina with an upgraded 2.9ghz i5 and upgraded 16gb of RAM for about 1500.

R&A Graveyard / A Notifications Tab or Pane

It would be really helpful to have an area on the forums where we get notifications or alerts when people respond to our posts, mention us in a post or quote something in our posts. This way we can make sure we are always involved when people tag us or quote us etc.

Ive seen this in most forums it would be great to see it implemented here.

Mixing/Mastering / The Mono Build Trick

I just saw this quick tutorial from Hyperbits about putting automation on your build to slowly descend into Mono and then back to stereo on the drop to make it hit harder.

I use Pro Q2 and find where the frequencies are boosting and then pitch down or up to get in key.

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Advice on Buying a Used Interface
« on: January 07, 2016, 09:54:56 pm »
I was looking to buy a new interface under $200 and i found a couple used models for good prices from guitar center.

Also i found a Scarlett 2i2 for $70 on craigslist. The guy says it works perfectly and is in good condition but doesnt have anything i can test it on before i buy it.

Has anyone had any experience with buying these things used or should i just cash out on a new one?

Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Re: ADSR courses worth it?

ADSR IS FANTASTIC,

I used ADSR to re-inforce the things i already knew and learn new things. If you actually take the time to go through each and every course and take notes like i did, you can really take away an insane amount of knowledge on production, tips and sound design.

Without this site i would honestly be way behind where i am now at my production level.

Hope this helps!

What really helped me begin to finish my tracks was NGHTMRE's abelton masterclass. Search it up on youtube, its 2 hours of greatness and he shows how he arranges his tracks.

don't buy a behringer... please don't lol...

for quality buy something along the lines of an apogee duet or the RME equivalent.  If you are on a budget and want something with serious punch, I love having my Audio 2 DJ from NI. which can be used for 2 headphones or 2 deck mixing (if you DJ). perfect for those trips to the cafe.

Ive read a lot of reviews on the Scarlett 2i2 i was thinking about purchasing that.
