Sound Design / 808 Processing Techniques?

Hey guys,
I have recently started experimenting with some trap music. I usually add a bit of saturation then High cut around 200 hz (depending on the source) yet it still sounds a bit flat. I am wondering what kind of processing do you guys do to your 808 samples (or sounds you have designed yourself), in order to get them to sound heavier and stand out in the mix.

Start your tracks from other sections, so you can get good at making those sections. The verse is my weakest area in the composition stage. So I started writing my tracks from the verse first, so I can improve that area and I've been getting alot of success with it.
