I didn't know ozone 7 could export audio file types I'll have to try it out.

Yeah it’s a new feature. It even includes a realtime Codec preview, where you can listen to how it’ll sound in 320kbps, 256kbps, 128kbps and so on. You can also check the difference between AAC and MP3. You can also isolate just the signal lost so you hear exactly what is getting lost along the compression process.

I think it’s rather awesome.

I used to put the mastered .wav to Logic Pro X, turn off circular panning law and render in mp3. Although this required quite a lot of steps because if you want to go from 88,2kHz to 44,1kHz, you need to re-render the .wav into the different sample rate and after that render to mp3.

I have since moved to iZotope Ozone 7’s own encoder, I just render out .wav and .mp3 from there. For conversion to .m4a I use iTunes directly (Create AAC version directly from the .wav source file).

Mixing/Mastering / Re: Lowcut/highpass on bass and kick

100Hz is a bit too much. Didn’t those people say to highpass everything EXCEPT the sub and kick at 100Hz? That would make way more sense.

I cut everything off at 30Hz and I think it’s fine like that. You lowcut the signal so you get just a bit more headroom in the mix, but if you’re not really running out of space, then it’s just a matter of habit to highpass at 20, 30 or 40Hz.

In the end, it has to sound good! Otherwise it would be pointless.

I use the iZotope Ozone standalone app, so I have the Ozone EQ, Dynamics, Imager and Maximizer on the output. I use Voxengo Span after dynamics to balance the bands to form a flatter EQ line or to check if something doesn’t jump too much out of balance.

Hey guys,

I made this instrumental hip-hopish sounding track.

Let me know, what you think. It’s not for release yet so I can modify it however I can!  8)

Thanks,
