Some proper feedback here guys, thank you very much - I'll continue to plug away at it over the week, see if I can get it into a position where you're all happy :)

Noted, when you say turn it down, do you mean just generally turn it down or remove some of the attack because I'm finding that I lose a lot of the impact when lowering the volume in general.

Also, yeah it's a bit bland at the moment with it being a WIP - but I'll keep plugging away - thanks fella.

This is really great, lots of changes, lots to keep you interested. Some really great sound choices and progressions. Make sure you get this finished as I'd like to hear it once it's done!

Agree with the other poster, think it needs a bit more work - think the concept is cool - would like less of the crunchy/bitcrushing effect myself but each to their own. Keep at it and post when you've done more! :)

I have the TI2 Desktop, I want to say that I recommend it, but I'll be honest - it's flaky as hell when it comes to using it via their VST/USB hookup. I suspect it's a great bit of gear when you're using it outside of their VST hookup (so as a classic bit of hardware with audio out to a mixer or something) but generally I find I dislike the majority of integration flaws it has.

In terms of sound, if you're after a really thick supersaw, great.. if you're after very clear/crisp sounds and really wide sounds, it's great. But yeah, for me, that's where it ends... the implementation is a nightmare.

Iv never used the TI2 but i can honestly say iv never had any problems using a Virus B by only sending midi commands to the virus and then running audio back into FL Studio through my Scarlett. The only real issue iv run into is FL Studios inability to support hardware properly and sometimes latency issues if im running lots effects in FL. perhaps you could run your TI2 in the old school fashion?

I do sometimes think of going down that route, in fact from time to time I do use it for resample work but ultimately it's hassle, I'm a lazy creature and I love to drag and drop VSTs more than deal with latency issues. :D

Glad you have more use for yours though, it's great to see others finding their gear worthwhile!

This picture is how I pretend my studio looks in my head :)

Mixing/Mastering / Re: Side-chain

To aim towards an answer in a more MZ fashion: side-chaining is a hand turning the volume down while another sound is playing.. and then turning it back up again when the other sound stops playing. The attack and release again, to quote MZ is 'is how lazy or on point the hand is'.

Ooh jamie, your setup is really cool. what monitors are those? I've seen pictures of them quite a lot but I've never known the name (the egg-shaped ones)

Thanks :D

I find a combination of both works best myself, I tend to use my DT770s/HD650's for detail (things like tiny changes to attacks and harshness) then the monitors to get a more wholesome picture of how the mix sounds - but the latter is pointless if your room is a dud.
