Sound Design / How to effectively pitchbend 808s
« on: January 25, 2016, 01:45:01 am »
So i've attempted doing this a couple of times, but they don't seem to sound as good as the examples im about to show you. Experienced producers seem to know how to do it so effortlessly. I'm a huge fan of this method and I want it get it down perfectly. Could any one help me out? I'd appreciate it so much!

Well, what I do is go on YouTube, type in "soul music" and search through playlists people make. I listen & listen until I hear something sample worthy, then convert the video to MP3. If the track I'm making turns out to be a really good one, I search up the track name on Amazon, so that I can buy a high quality version of the song. Then boom. I'm done!

I'm big on drum kits. I love having the right kick, the right snare, the right anything drum kit related. Especially since I'm big on Hiphop/Trap. What would you say is your best drumkit(s)? Me personally, so far, it would have to be the "Evil Needle Drum Kit Vol. 1" & the "BNJMN Drumkit"

anyone willing to share? :)

Feel good vibes does it for me. Whether it comes from a song, or just being around good people, it inspires me to make something awesome.

Yeah I agree, it does suck at this moment. There has to be a way to enforce the feedback for feedback deal. To be able to post one feedback post, it should require you to leave feedback on at least 3 others somehow.

Inspiration/Creativity/Motivation / Re: Why do you do it?

I do it simply because it's literally the only thing I'm decent at doing. Without it, I'd pretty much be worthless right now lol.

I've realized that it is extremely hard for me to say, "I made this song because I was (insert emotion)". Like, I am able to make music that I enjoy, but I do feel detached with my music on a personal level. I'm like 99% sure it's because I don't know squat about music theory (like, zero) and I simply make my music through constant trial & error, until I hear something I like. I don't even know what the hell I'm doing most of the time but something does come out in the end lol. Any tips on involving emotion to my music?

Sorry, not a fan. People should participate in discussion because they want to participate in discussion, not because there are other incentives.

I highly doubt anyone would be here strictly for the reward.

Strictly? Probably not. But its really not necessary imo, and internet communities have enough of a tendency to get weird about things like that. Its a forum about music production, not club penguin.

Then again, depends how its implemented, and to what extent. I think we can all agree though that this kind of thing isn't on the admin's list of priorities.

Yeah it's definitely not necessity. It was just a simple fun suggestion that I personally think is entertaining. kind of like the rewards you get in xbox/playstation haha

I mean it doesn't have to be the "hey im better than you" kind of thing. Could be a way of saying thank you to the person for using the site as often as they do

yeah i get that but the whole premise of this site is to have everyone basically be COMPLETELY equal, not putting anyone on some sort of pedestal

Fair enough!

we're not going to do perks because we want everyone on here to be equal

Another of my sampled-based hiphop stuff. Had no clue this track was going to take the direction it took, but I'm pretty satisfied with the result :]

Well the titles could be the determination of who is active and who isn't. The reward could be something separate!
