WIPs / Re: Could I have feedback on that new summer house WIP I made plz?

Sounds pretty good for your first tropical-house-like track.

I would turn up your lead (guitar) in the drop.  I would decrease the low-mids a little bit in that kick so that it doesn't get in the way of the bass.  I agree with everything JCMusic said, but I think you might want to turn down your bass as well.  To figure out how much bass you need (or any other frequency for that matter), listen to some popular music.  Since your making a tropical house type of song, I'd at least listen to some Kygo.  Notice how much bass there is relative to how much upper end there is.  Hope this helps.

Keep 'em coming.

Yeah I agree with Marco.  You could probably make it sound more full by increasing the volume on your main sounds (like the strings).  Just make sure you don't add to much high end on them.

It could definitely work as a hip hop beat in my opinion

Good job Dylan.  The drums samples are pretty nice, especially that kick.  Good vibes, chords and sound selection too.

I agree with Mussar that some of the drums are too loud.  The snare that comes in at 1:15 is definitely too loud.  I also agree that you should work on transitions (like at 1:00).  Simple noise or reverse effects should do the trick.  Also, the bass was quiet during especially during the first part of the song.  I know it's customary to keep the bass out during half (or all) of the intro, but even at 1:00, there was too little bass.  Hope this helps.

Sounds pretty good.  I like the chill vibe.  The first verse feels a little empty.  In the future, you might want to add more than a pad, vocal, bass, and melody (trumpet).  You did a good job with it here, but it might sound more complete if you added just one other instrument like a piano or guitar.

Good job with the drums.  I like the kick.  The shaker is a little to loud in my opinion.  For the future, you might want to consider adding cymbals.  Overall, you did a good job mixing what you had but you might want to add more in the future.  Best of luck in the competition

Nice work.  It could probably use some more bass though

Hello,

I'm working on a trap song and I'm in need of some other opinions.  Mainly, what could I do to improve the middle part (the part between the drops)?  I feel like it's missing something, but I'm not sure what that is.  Any other criticism is welcome too

Nice.  For future productions, you might want to bring back the low-mid in the bass.  It sounds like it's interfering with the other sounds a little bit.  Other than that, good job.

welcome to the forum!! this is cool, the fills (like at 3:07) are cool and the drums are very nice.

i think that it mostly sounds good, but is a little heavy on the high end. specifically, the FX during the drop, along with the supersaw hits, sound a little bit harsh. or maybe its that the bass needs some more presence. im not super well versed in melbourne bounce, so it might be fine, but it feels lacking in low end.

this is really clean overall though, best of luck in the contest.

Thank you.  I hear what you're talking about.  I think it needs more bass.  I'll keep that in mind for future productions

Hey folks,

I recently finished this remix for the Nervo remix competition on Splice.  It was mostly for fun, but let me know what you think.  Any criticism is appreciated.

Dude this is pretty sick.  I love the drums.  For the lead in the first drop, it sounds a bit harsh in the high end.  It's probably the reverb.  You might want to reduce the high end in that synth, or if the reverb is a bus, you could reduce the high end of the bus.  I hear a bit of the same thing in the lead in the second drop as well.

For that snare, I honestly don't think you need to add much (or any) high end.  One trick you can use to assess the loudness of an element is to turn the volume of your speakers down so that it's really quiet, and then listen to the song.  If the element (the snare for instance) sounds lost while it's quiet, it will probably be the same when it's loud.  The snare sounds great to me.  I might increase the snare volume slightly (1 or 2 db), but I like it.

I know this doesn't have to do with mixing but: I would add some variation in the first drop.  The main lead plays the same melody a lot.

Hope this helps.  Song sounds great btw
