thanks thats a great idea! im still working out the kinks tho, might change up the voice thing. kind of a place holder. Also noticed bass is sort of loud in certain parts, might be over compressing. [definitely over compressing :)]

Heres another track I've been messin with.

just replaced the song with an update, check it out. Same link. Slammed the master with a limiter and changed the levels of some stuff.

Onetwoweight : thanks! I just used some drum samples from a failed collaboration, im actually not sure where he got them, they are super processed and go through compression and saturation to fill them out. the hihat rhythm is composed of the offbeat hat and a white noise pluck on top of the kick, in the second verse the offbeat hat goes doubletime and so does the white noise pluck to give it that extra pumping feel.

Hylaxy : thanks so much! I will try it out! i think maybe a plate reverb might give it that hollow distanced sound your looking for.

WIPs / flashbacks - darkdeen's anxiety remix

I wanted to make something that gave you anxiety. thats why there are so many detuned sounds and strange noises, and also the bass line is

d c# d d#

kinda breaking the rules when it comes to music theory but i think i made it work with the context.

Let me know what you think!

Sound Design / Re: Rezz Lo-Fi Sounding Drop Bass

It's two layers essentially:

The first is a basic punchy sub rolling bass, I'm sure there are hundreds of tutorials on it so I won't get into it.

The other layer is that grit you mentioned. It's essentially a saw wave with an open filter & very high resonance, decay around 450ms and everything else 0 on the amp env, and then very heavy (very very heavy) bitcrushing added. The bitcrushing will essentially over-power most of the original synth, so things like oscillator choice will have limited effect.

The main thing to focus on when making that second layer is to create an open, 'talking' style basic synth that sounds like your generic dubstep talking basses, then bitcrush the hell out of it.

Add the two together and WAMBO!, you've got your synth.

this is so fucking spot on, i used the same technique when i attempted to create a rezz inspired synth.
