Could you have another listen and tell me what you think now?  Made a few changes.

Also I feel like the kick/hats/clapsnares etc fit really well for whatever genre this is.

I dont exactly know if this falls under the category of techno, but whatever it is, I dig it.  Dark and weird.  I like that little (maybe vocal?) sample thing that starts happening at 2:30.  How did you do that?

to introduce the second drop a bit better, try filtering in your drums (HP and LP).

This was an idea I had considered but hadn't actually tried yet.  Definitely going to give it a go.

Seems like the drums need attention over all in this, thanks for the feedback :)

I wish I had stuck with it when I started trying to produce in highschool, and again early in college those few times.  I didn't seriously get into producing until maybe 3 years ago, wasting lots of valuable time.  Luckily, I spent much of that time DJing, so I was still learning about how tracks were built and meant to sound, etc.

I also wish I hadn't associated myself with a certain "easy" label early on in my learning. I was excited just to get a track signed, but they weren't really a good label, my production was still crap, and nothing really came of it.  I should've just put those songs out for free.  Oh well.

The barrier to entry is lower?  You don't need to have a real job and save up for a buttload of equipment, you can get started with a laptop and some headphones and expand from there.

Plus, there are a lot of resources online to learn and grab software.

It's "easier" to get into producing now.

I have to wait until I grow old enough to have more freedom to handle my time.

This is not a terrible thing?

I started making music in college. I spent a lot of my freetime doing it, and it was okay. But I have gotten far better after college, and additionally, I now have a better job and money to spend on things.  Since graduating, I have gotten: a better computer (my old laptop would sometimes crash while exporting, would get underruns all the time), monitors (my old speakers were desktop speakers...), audio interface, etc.

There's no rule that says if you don't get a song signed before you're 21 that your career is over. Make do with what little time you have now, write down ideas, make notes of things you WANT to learn in the future, create patches in 30 minute blocks of time, I dunno.  But don't worry; you have a lot of life ahead of you.

Thank you for the in depth feedback!  Much appreciated.

I definitely feel the bass is a little bigger and kinda more..stagnant than it should be.

I was not really aiming for the kick to be a prominent part of the song, but if it's to the point where it's battling with the bass to even be heard, I'll have to do something about that.

I'm looking forward to putting some more time into this thing after I move this weekend. I might reach back out to you to get a second opinion at some point, if thats okay. I liked the stuff on your soundcloud, so hearing feedback from your point of view is valuable

As for the "Amen Break" drums buildup Im still on the fence about it

I like it a lot as well, for what it's worth.

Actually just listened to more of your stuff, it's all pretty good.  Hope to see this WIP posted as a final :)

The mix is amazing actually.  I wish I could get that

It's definitely still in need of some work, but I'm happy with how it's going so far.  Especially looking for feedback on if the second drop bit sounds alright, since I've never done something like that before.

*edit: does the embed code not work?

Thats pretty fantastic.  Feels like the low end is missing some presence. Its there, but it doesnt sit where I personally would have it.

Other than that, I really like it. Good work!
