I've found that the less layers these types of basslines have, the better they sound. The key is to get really good cohesion between your kick and bass otherwise it just sounds like ass.
I think this is what it's about essentially. The perfect kick-bassline will only require so much work and processing because they just match. Try to get a good kick and making a bass line with appear a lot easier. Massive sounds like a good vst to make those bass sounds.
