p.s. just make sure your kick is in the right key. say your song in A Minor. If you going to sample a kick, then go to Beatport and pick a track you like and make sure that it is in the same key or in relative major. As in if it's in A the relative major would be C.

Hey man,

Yeah i think you can get some clarity for this mix.

The first place to start would be your kick drum. It is quite muffled. It needs some top end to cut through the mix. Think of it as you anchor. Because it is a very prominent part of your mix it needs to be spot on. And then build everything around it. Also the balance of instruments is the key. Say if your chord synths are way too loud you would start boosting more mid range and top end on your claps and vocals to cut them through the mix, where else you could have just turned the synths down. Maybe worth sampling a kick from a record you like? That way you will know that you have a solid anchor in the track? And build everything around it. After you finish see how the mix compares to your previous version. No strict rules here dude

Nice one

Ah cool!

Was thinking of getting machine the other day actually :)

Love it mate.

Pretty clean mix. I like those arpeggiated bleepy sounds. Nice stuff. Did you make those or is it a sample library?

Maybe can do with a touch more top and bottom? or not! pretty good as is

Nice one

Yeah, that's pretty sweet

I agree whit what the other guys said about your claps needing to pock out a bit more.

Try using overdrive or bitcrusher to give them some harmonic distortion. Maybe a Transient designer of some sort afterwards to pull out transients. If both of those things don't give you enough. Try adding some grainy reverb to lengthen the decay.

Hope that helps

hey man.

cool stuff.

Show Me Love? :)

You're on the right track here. Here is my 2 cents, if you need them:) . I think the sub is way too loud. I have VXT8 in the studio that reproduce quite a bit of sub and I think your mix is on a heavy side. Just pull that sub down a bit and it will translate better on the big speakers

hey man,

i see what you were going for in the track.

nice bass sound and all.

there is a weird resonance on the bass happening. were you going for a heavy big room kick sound?

good stuff though

Hey guys,

Just joined the forum.

A lot of sweet stuff on here.

Here is a couple of my old'ish tracks that been laying on soundcloud for a while now.

Thought i'd share them with you and see what you all think.

Could have done 2 separate posts, but that would be a waste of a thread.

Mixing/Mastering / Re: Master Channel while Mixing

Hey hey,

Just depends really.

I developed my chain with time and recently I have always produced/mixed into it.

*It starts with NLS Summing Bus on SSL setting. A little bit of overdrive (+3).
* Then going into Fairchild Compressor (just for the sound) No compression
*J37 Tape to give more roundness to the bottom and soften top end
*API 2500 for some bus compression (max of 3 DB at the loudest point of the track)
*Pultec EQ boosting 60 or 100 and 10k or 15k
*Finishing off with Brainworx BX Digital (mono the low end up to 150HZ and spread the sides anything from 120-140). Sometimes some mid/side eq.

I find that when I mix into this chain i don't need to add too much EQ on the top and bottom. I'm trying to EQ as little as possible as otherwise things start to sound phasey and weird

Sound Design / Re: Anyone know how Jaimie xx processed the drums in Gosh?

Hey man,

I managed to get a similar result before in reason using Dr.Rex. Apply LFO fader to a pitch control and modulate a bit.

Hope that helps
