Hi I'm Robert! I heard about this forum when it got started. I'm trying to become more active and try to meet people and interact with other people :) I'm a full time student - double major in software engineering and music media. I've been producing for about 4-5 years. I use FL Studio primarily. I haven't settled on any style so I've just been trying everything out and trying to learn a lot of different genres.

I can't think of a better way to say it than Mussar
I just wanna be able to make a living writing music that makes people feel things.

Sound Design / Re: How to Isolate Vocals from a track???

Sometimes if you're lucky you can take out the stereo information leaving just the mono and that isolates the vocals a bit. But yeah stems are the way to go for a clean sound.

Sound Design / Re: Chord Vocings/super saw sound design

I think spreading out the chord a lot can help... Having a the root of the chord at the bottom, then an octave up start putting in the rest of the chord. The third is really important because it determines the type of chord it is(minor major/something else?). Start to fill in from there.

Honestly just experiment a lot I think... I good thing I haven't tried but I just thought of would be to have a bunch of voicing for the same chord lined up in a row so it just changes voices. You can have really wide super saws spreading a few octaves or small ones that is just a triad. Try adding in some color by adding in the 9th or 11th on some of them.

Then when you have that all lined up you can try adding some sound design stuff. Add in some saturation, play with the reverb and delay a bit maybe. I think it would be a good way to experiment. Might try it when I get home now that I'm thinking about it :P

Sounds like it has a vocal quality to me. Maybe record yourself saying "doo" and try and resample that? Or see what kind of qualities and harmonics saying that has and try to recreate it using a synth.

Also it has a kind of click transient..Might achieve that by having an envelope have the pitch drop really quick by an octave or so. Lots of reverb and delay.

I like it a lot! Really relaxing. I think the balance between the melodic stuff and the interjections is good.

Reminds me a lot of dustforce stuff.

Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Re: Recomendations to start a remix?

Maybe a bit obvious but...
I think it's cool if you can pick out melodies or motifs from the original track, and change them just a little bit. It pays homage to the original, but also makes it your own.

Here is my 20 minute attempt:

Doesn't sound quite like the original but it still sounds awesome.

You could do something similar and serum...and I guess any other VST that allows for customer wave tables. It wont be done quite the same way that Harmor does it but you can get a similar effect.
