I'm working on a remix of a classic trance track (from 2004 I believe).

Great job so far.
Who's the vocalist?
There are many things I would suggest your work on.
First of all you should nail the foundation of the track: the kick + bassline.
I'm not sure about the percussion elements you have - they seem a bit loud. I'm not crazy about the snaps. You should try getting a more trancy percussion. Try see if you can layer a nice percussion loop below the other elements (open hat and clap). Add more effects with crash cymbal and reverse cymbals.
Vocal and melodies are great - you should keep that.
Last part is the arrangement. Try finding a similar track you like and use it as a reference for your song structure.

I use Logic Pro X. For this track I tried to stay away from the typical Sylenth and Spire combination. I wanted to get this warm analog feel to it. Bassline is a combination of Omnisphere and Virus. The leads are Diva. 303 acid is from Phoscyon. Pads are Omnisphere. There's a strummed guitar playing from a Kontakt library.

I have no clue what this genre is and it doesn't matter if. What matters is that you like it.
I think it has some good elements. I would perhaps try making the bassline more techno style. The acid is nice, but maybe I cut out some low end of it.

That's a good idea ... I think the track needs a more interesting arrangement + add something new that the original don't have.

I would say both. The stereo image is a bit easier to nail on headphones, but often you can get a better feel of the low end with good speakers. I don't think quality headphones or speakers are cheap. My recommendation would be:
Headphones: Beyerdynamic 990 250 ohm. (the ohm is important)
Speakers: Yamaha HS5 or HS7 depending on your room.

Yeah, the melody is from another track I did called The Martian. I originally did it in a Coldharbour style progressive, but thought it might fit a tech trance style track
