For me, OTT is pretty well known.... but one that isn't used as much is the "Flatline" preset, I find this is great for tightening the low end and I often use the OTT and Flatline in combination (I play around with the wet setting on both).

Give it a go :)

Mixing/Mastering / Re: How should you layer supersaws?

I always add a channel with a a heavily detune saw with 100% wet reverb with a short tail. For me this add a huge special sound without a long messy tail (which losses the clarity of a song)

I downloaded a tonne of old "self help" and philisophical studies audiobooks, theyre great seem to be recorded off a cassette.

Here is an example (sample is half way through the song)

Its stupid but for me I often put a pitch shifter on my master bus when I am writing simply so I can get a completely new perspective on my compositions.

Sound Design / Re: What's your opinion on Presets ?
« on: January 07, 2016, 10:25:50 am »
They are great, most people dont have the time to handcraft their own sound library.

Personally I find them to be a great starting point also layer a few presets give you a whole new sound of your own!

Also I learnt so much through reverse engineering a lot of presets.

1. Basic saw wave with detune
2. Filter (low pass)
3. Reverb (Valhalla is great for this)
4. Compression

Optional- Chorus (to add further width), Saturation (to add aditional harmonics)

Often I find a pad is all about a subtle sub floor underneath.

Just follow the feels......
