If it's not already on the to-do list, a waveshaper snapin with both symmetric and asymmetric custom draw-able curves would be fantastic for both Multipass and Snap Heap usage.

Noted!

Both it and Multipass are fantastic! I've been getting some cool results out of both.

Thanks, glad you like them!

Hey,

Just wanted to let you all know we (Kilohearts) just released a new free plugin called Snap Heap.

It's a modular effect much like our previous multiband effect Multipass, but a bit simpler.

Have a play with it and let me know what you think!

This is Studio Telex, where the majority of Kicking Plastic material passes through or originates from.

Related to the Moskow Discow-Telex?

My happy place.

The Nord Lead reminded me about a Nord Modular I sold years ago. Kind of miss it. I think it's also in a happy place now though.  :)

Presonus Audiobox iTwo ! never owned one but a friend has it and i tried it and it sounded real good and i loved it~~~~

I own one AudioBox USB and I think it works great. Haven't really pushed it hard in any way, but it seems to work just fine.

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: Good Vocoders?
« on: January 08, 2016, 09:37:52 am »
I actually said "we should make a vocoder" at the (kilohearts) office today. If anyone has good opinions on what a vocoder should contain, hit me up.

YES! A talkbox style one like the mda one but not as annoying to route and more options and better sound would be amazing. Please make this happen!

If you've got time, throw me a mail with some short notes what you like and what you don't like in it, and I'll put it on the (pretty long) todo. :)

Cool or not, we have a couple of freebies that are simple but pretty useful. I particularily like the "duck" feature of the delay, myself. :)

Sound Design / Re: What's your opinion on Presets ?
« on: January 07, 2016, 10:32:14 am »
I personally don't use presets that much, but in general I think they're a tool just like anything else. Either as a starting point for tweaking or just as they are. Sometimes people say it's cheating, boring, "makes you sound like everybody else" etc, but... I think there's just so much more to making music than sound design, and for some that's an important part and for some it's not.

That said, some specific presets may be so widely used that they can't be used without getting associated with other things. Just like a specific sample that's already been used in other things may not be a good idea to use again.

Either way, I think the only people that care at all are other producers, who probably aren't your key demographic for your music. :)

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: 32bit vs. 64bit
« on: January 07, 2016, 07:45:12 am »
However, 32 bit software running on a 64 bit CPU will mean that your CPU isn't being fully utilized - when a 64 bit CPU does a math operation, it is capable of twice as much accuracy as a 32 bit CPU (assuming you're working in floating point, which most internal audio production is these days - if your DAW is NOT internally floating point, it's probably time to retire it).  That accuracy is nice, but not terribly important... especially since your FP mixing is 32 bit... the CPU will have the extra width for accuracy while it's doing the math, but once it stores the result into memory, it's going to chop most of that accuracy off.

This is not quite correct either. The floating point parts of the 32 bit CPUs have been handling 64 (and 80) bit floats for quite some time, I think as far back as the 386DX and beyond (i.e. back in the 80's).
