WIPs / Re: The Games We Play - Experimental Future Beat

You've got a really good grasp on melody and overall vibe it seems like.

Your main lead, I would use a different instrument for that so it stand out.

I like the hip hop esque rhythm you have going in the drums, Try to bring your kick out more by removing some other conflicting frequencies.

Nice job with the pitch bending, I'm a huge fan of that. Gives you that wiggly mood.

Would be nice to hear you layer those vocals later on with the same vocal loop +12 semitones, lower volume, slightly phrased. That's trending big time these days, sounds good.

Overall, the idea is great, it'd be nice for you to take a break towards the middle though and strip everything away, the synth occupies I believe the entire track.

I was actually going to incorporate the intro in to the first half with out the big synth so the second "drop" would have a little bit more energy. When you say phrased, do you mean more enunciated or just the structure of the verse? The vocals are actually stacked, one normal mid range, one dropped 12 semitones and the other up 12 semitones, so I should have another on top of those that is essentially +24 semitones? or Sample it and bump that up +12 semitones?

https://soundcloud.com/mattmatterson/the-games-we-play-wip First time using vocals, recorded them myself. Let me know how you feel about the mix. I'm feeling a bit iffy on the snare.

A good mix could bring this out a lot better than it is. The snare is way in the back, possibly sidechain it to bring it forward. Looks like you have a lot of headroom being taken up by your percussion. Really interesting melody construction, I would like to see where this goes. Need a bit more highs to really fill it out. I would try layering more of your instruments, but don't make it too muddy. Mixing is your friend!

I really enjoy the Sax, Even though the kicks seem a bit high tuned it went well with it. The string instrument pluck seems to hit really hard, almost in a metallic way. I wouldn't let it take up most of the lead, maybe layer it with something a little more softer? I can't tell you much, you seem to be heading in the right direction.

WIPs / Re: We Need Biscuits - kind of a nu-funk vibe

The high pitch is actually from the bass, just the effect of resampling and EQing. I'll see what I can do with snare. It did seem a little flat to me.

Don't really know what to call this style but I need input on my mix. Might be getting played over a PA and I want to know what stands out the most to you? Thanks!

Got a good idea going here, I enjoyed the chord progression. I'm interested in seeing how you will approach the percussion aspect.

Has a really nice bass sound design, biggest thing was the static backing it in the first drop. Not sure if intentional but I feel the bass would sound better with out it.
