I guess that's why Deadmau5 keeps posting pictures of his goats on Twitter...

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: Bitwig
« on: March 24, 2016, 12:09:16 am »
This might not be the right thread to bring this up but I was inspired to download the demo version of bitwig;

my immediate and only issue so far is that I can't figure out how to change the velocity sensitivity for my keyboards/overall sensitivity in general? I have a korg microkey and a m-audio keystation, both are fairly responsive but in bitwig they dont deviate more than 5-10% if even.

Believe me I searched online for almost an hour before I gave up and came here, I hope someone might know the answer.

I'd also love to know the answer to this. I'm still a full-time Bitwig user, but this is probably the only feature I feel is "missing" when compared to other DAWs.

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: Mono Maker/Stereo Widener plug in

I use a frequency splitter in Bitwig (native plugin) and then either put a tool/utility or Waves' S1 Stereo Imager on the frequency band I want to affect.

A vocoder! I feel like there aren't many solid options out there right now.

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Korg Minilogue Thread
« on: February 16, 2016, 04:48:50 am »
Hey everyone!

I've typically done all of my production using soft synths and have had the "why bother" attitude towards analogue gear. That being said, I'm very seriously eyeing the Korg Minilogue as an affordable/fun way to tactically interact with a synthesizer.

Do you guys have any initial thoughts? Pros, cons? If any users have one, it would be great to hear from them as well!

Not featured is my laptop and launchpad that should sit on the desk  :)

...I have damn near exactly the same desk setup. It looks like you raised the monitors by custom building a setup with an Ikea bookshelf and some chair/recliner legs?

I find often times, after an artist gains a notable following (however many people that is), they live a rather by-the-book and predetermined lifestyle (scheduled tour dates, scheduled studio time, etc...). I feel like this has the potential for limiting many previously available sources of inspiration (free time to go explore the world, girls that don't know you/care about your wealth, etc.). Do you feel this is the case for you? If so, how do you personally find new sources of inspiration?

Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Re: Music Theory: The TL;DR Version

I studied music in college, and I'd HIGHLY recommend this book to people who want to dive into music theory. Seriously, just download it -- it's free.
