What is the synth you started out with? Why?
« on: January 08, 2016, 04:27:19 am »
Curious what some of you guys got into this using. Sylenth was my foot in the door. Very beginner friendly, I'd imagine Serum could take its place purely based on the visual information it portrays for someone just starting out.

Sylenth because it seemed easy and everyone was using it, then massive (pretty much the same reason), and then Spire because rishi said it was cool lol

3xOsc is pretty much the starter synth for every FL user. Simple but very handy. I still sometimes use it to the day.

V-Station! :D ...of old time's sake, still have it installed.

Sytrus. I didn't even realize third-party synths existed until like two years into production!

It's almost a decade old, yet I still surprise myself with how incredibly versatile Sytrus is. Harmor was the next logical step from there. First one I purchased outside of FL Studio, however, was Sylenth1.
Build it, and they will come.

V station and Vanguard were amazing for trance (still are).
I pretty much only use Synthmaster now, it has a really diverse sound and love the filter. Although, if I'm writing a hard trance or freeform hardcore tune the nothing beats Sylenth for 'whomp' bassline power!

Started with Sylenth1 too, still use it now most of the time.
At the beginning the sounds sounded all right from the start, so I had immediately an idea of how to use in in tracks.
Now I really understand the most parts of the synth, so nowadays I'll start with the init preset :)

Sytrus, from Image-Line.

When I started out producing, it seemed the most versatile, simple, and strongest of synths of Image-Line's line of products was Sytrus, not unlike FM8. Sytrus is interesting in a way that it has a mini additive engine that allows you to not only shape your own waveforms, but export and import single-cycle waveforms. On top of that, you've got all the basic FM and Subtractive features.

That quickly ended, however, when I got my hands on Harmor. Now, I pretty much use it exclusively. I love that thing to death.
