Experience with sub pacs?
« on: January 08, 2016, 05:38:52 pm »
Hi everyone,
I currently use a pair of yamaha hs8s and although they deliver incredible response above ~120 hz, anything below seems to be lacking.
Since I produce out of my bedroom, which is fairly small, buying a sub like the hs8s may do more damage than good because my room is not treated.
Which brings me to the sub pacs, I've seen my fair share of videos and so far the reviews seems to be overall positive. Just wanted to see if others have any thoughts or advice? Currently my work around is a spectrum analyzer to visualize these frequencies but that can only go so far.

I got to try one on in person at DJ Tech Tool's HQ here in San Francisco, and it's actually very powerful. I haven't had a chance to use it in a mixing environment, but you can feel the sub differentiate the notes. It's wild.

EDIT: Okay, it has the Dada Life Seal of Approval as of today. I'm definitely gonna get one.

Seems cool, with it you can be manipulating space and time

I have one and I love it. Living in an appartement, with some respect for the neighbors it was out of question to get a sub on it's own so I went for this solution.
First time I used it it's like getting a pair of glasses, everything went clear in the low end. Or specifically muddy, so I was able to clarify things and "feel" the difference and the improvement (and I write the word feel again).

Can only recommend it !

I have the S1 and the backpack version .I love it .I only use it towards finishing tracks as it is quite tiring in the long run .I also find placing the S1 under my feet(!!!) really works .Fantastic for low transient attack into sub release . Takes the guess work out of the lower frequencies completely for me .I have the Neuman K&H 310's and they go quite low but nothing beats the sub pack for that low transient/sub dialing

I had one but sent it back after a few days, it does feel like you are sitting behind a big system n a club and you can really feel was happening in the low end department but it wasn't that comfortable to sit back on for long studio sessions

Is it easy to remove / attach? For quick monitoring / low-end checks.
