Back when I was first getting into all of this, I decided I wanted a name based off of "Chill" lmao. So my friend came up with the name "Amoxichillin". After a year of having this I realized how dumb it sounded so I just shortened it to "AMOX" and it eventually just stuck with me and everyone else, I don't have a name change in mind at all.

My name is Epsur, and honestly it's just a pokemon name (espurr -r) from one of the latest generations. I thought it sounded nice and probably anybody who isn't really into pokemon may have heard about it.

Well the term Great White Gravity is from an Imogen Heap song called "Lifeline" and I was really into Imogen Heap's second album "Speak for Yourself" when I was like 19 and I'm actually not a fan of the song Lifeline.

The lyric goes.. "Lifeline, before and after, in an instant of great white gravity."

My friend Sean had linked me a random Imogen Heap interview and I was watching it, listening to her talk about that song. She was talking about the term "great white gravity" and what it meant. Essentially she took a great white shark, which is the scariest thing in the world to her, and gravity, not like physical gravity but like... the gravity of a situation -- something very serious. Great White Gravity is the scariest moment in your life. It is the brief moments that completely change everything, for better or for worst, like the all encompassing existential fear of the human condition, the inevitability of everything, of death, life, and love. I've always wanted my music to be this all encompassing expression of how it feels to be alive, and the ultimate inevitability and the existential anxiety of that. The second I heard her describe what it meant, I knew 100% that it had to be the name I used. That was the night that I made my soundcloud.

"Okami" is the Japanese kanji for wolf (狼). I've always liked the way kanji looks and I've been inspired by artists like Porter Robinson and that futuristic video game style of music so it fits well with my style. Wolves are my favorite animals and the stories and values associated with them relate to me as a person as well as my music.

Occasionally my friends would call me "Eevee" as a nickname (which comes from my real name of course). Eevee is certainly one of my favorite Pokemon, so I thought why not use it for my artist name?

Eevee is known as the evolution Pokemon, so that's where the "Evol" part came from. I also used it as the best word to describe what I'd like my musical journey to be: As I continue exploring different sounds in my music, I also see my style evolve and change over time. I'm not quite sure how I got the "tan" part, I probably just wanted to add some ending that attributes to a role, since that is a suffix for person. So I guess that adds up to "one that evolves"?

I think my name is pretty self explanatory but I'll go more in-depth about it. Flowstate = the state of flow. For the people that don't know, the state of flow is the highest possible "mental state" one could be in in regards to doing something. You often hear creatives say, "once you're in the state of flow..." It's the highest balance of skill level and competition. The ability to do something extremely hard but having the ability to do it well.

Here's the wiki definition of the state of flow:
"In positive psychology, flow, also known as the zone, is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by complete absorption in what one does."

This name doesn't signify that I am in the flow state but it's rather a reminder to always reach for the flow state. To continue pushing forward through hardship and obstacles to ultimately reach the state of flow with music. It's also a constant reminder on the type of music I make. I want my music to feel immersive and full of emotion rather than having something that sounds "cool".

Attached is a chart that represents the state of flow so you can visualize your progression with any skills you want to improve on.

I was having a big crisis with finding a name that wouldn't sound stupid, wasn't  already used, have some meaning in it and is "versatile" in terms of genres (You can't name yourself "Trap Jesus" or "Boomin' Thug" and then make Tropical house song), so it finally one day clicked during searching a random stuff on wikipedia: daimon = "1. A tutelary spirit that guides a person; a genius; a lar" I think it's unique enough, also It's not connected into some style or genre, so I can go House, Trap, Moombahton, Synthwave... I hope you guys won't steal it now  ;D ;D
I'm working on logo now, which has shape of diamond because it's pronounced the same except there isn no "d" at the end.

Ahh thanks! Yeah my friend and I were talking about psychology and the process of attributing skills with experience. When he brought up the words "state of flow" it immediately caught my mind and I had to stop him mid conversation to tell him I wanted that for my musical journey. I never questioned the name since (:

Two reasons behind my current music alias, My step-mom was a psychologist, and also my favorite book was Through the Looking Glass, the very inspiration for most Psychedelic stories and art. Well, from her and that story I became just a little obsessed with trying to understand the way of thinking of mentally ill people, such as schizophrenia or multiple personality disorder. So that obsession with that led to my music alias. I've also always been a creator of stories, hence my last EP was a literal story of the Apocalypse and SPAAAACCEEEEE....so I'm thinking of maybe doing another project called Storyteller, or Storytellers if I find a partner in crime!

My alias was created like this:
-ion is the name of a charged particle, and is pronounced the same way as my first name in my language.
-Lawrence is the english version of my surname.
