could anyone explain how to make the chords (detuned choirish sound) that come in at 2:02 in this track?

Hey!

was wondering how you make these metallic-ish supersaws that slushii uses in the drop in this song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8hRRRJp1rQ

as far as i can hear there are some layering involved, but other than one layer that is almost not detuned, and one that is slightly detuned, i cannot figure out the rest, been trying out some different stuff, but the texture and eq'ing doesn't get any near.

i know this is probably pretty easy, but since i'm pretty new to sound design i just can't wrap my head around it just yet.
anyone who knows how to do something similar?:)

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has some insight on how to make this Ray Volpe bass. Here's the link to the song, the sound I'm looking to make is at 2:45. I feel like it's a saw / square wave with some detune, chorus, flanger, and distortion but everything i've tried myself isn't really getting me all that close. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello! I've recently discovered DJ Snake's new album and music style and I've fallen in love with the track "Here comes the night". My question is : What kind of synth/lead(s) is present when the drop kicks in? I'm blown away by that sound and have no idea how to design it myself or what to even look for. Is it some sort of chord being wobbled and arped? I've really got no clue about this and would love any help!
Thanks in advance!

I am really stucked tryin to make this high pitched sound from Nicolas Jaar (0:07)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfIpMEGzgrw

I  ve made this sound which is a bit close but I can't imagine what else to modulate to get it closer (and that clear) :-[

I'm feeling a lowpassed square under another layer with some comb filtering

You're right about the first two. Throw in a bassier note and some white noise. I'd also say boost the mids and saturate it a tad.

Squares, a bandpass (I think?), and volume modulation

Edit: Use envelopes as opposed to LFO's. It sounds super marimba-ish

Some emo kid couldn't start a band, so he picked up a computer instead. That's going pretty well.

I mean, he pulls up the patch directly afterwards, so you could have just extrapolated it from the patch:

It's one of the most basic "Bass House Wubs", and can be made in any synth capable of FM (including massive!):

  • Oscillator 1 should be a sine wave playing in the bass/sub bass range (C0-C1), and Oscillator 2 should be a sine wave playing 2 octaves above it but with the output volume all the way down. (If you're using something like FM8, you want the second operator to be set to the ratio 4, aka the third overtone)
  • Frequency Modulate/Phase Modulate Oscillator 1 with Oscillator 2, and run Oscillator 1 through a low pass filter.
  • Apply an LFO or an envelope to the FM amount and the cutoff of the filter.

Everything beyond those three steps are just bells and whistles - he probably used serum's "Hyper" effect to add stereo width and character, added some reverb, then used a second LFO to slowly open up the cutoff of the filter and pitch the synth up a step so he didn't have to draw in any automation and could just hold a single note down.

Here's the fundamental patch, recreated in Serum, Massive, FM8, and Operator.

Looking for help on making this perc like stab.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rm6IFQu9FZY
(2:04)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qUhNcaOTiU
(1:43)

Very quick percussion sounding stab. I'm not sure how to make it at all tbh. I plan on using either Sylenth or Spire for this, unless this sound may be done through a sampler instead?

It sounds very squarish, pluckish obviously. Idk if I should be using a synth or trying to find some sort of sample. If I am using a synth could someone give me some guidance on how it's done? If I am looking for a sample, what kind of sample am I looking for? A stab sound? A percussion sound and process it as a stab?

If I am making it in a synth, what specific parameters would I be modulating? I know about the quick ADSR, filter cut off, but anything else regarding the pitch?

Will appreciate any advice, thanks.

Can someone please explain how Sunny Lax makes talking wobble bass shots serum?

I'm trying to emulate this kind of style for my new tracks, what would you suggest I do using the LFO's, filters and envelopes in Serum to get something close?

Thanks for the help!

He uses them in the intros of both these tracks

Does anyone know how to recreate the following vocal effect: https://youtu.be/gDJDj543kok?t=33s, https://youtu.be/YxjsDvTfuXg?t=38s and https://youtu.be/mGBHV492Trw?t=1m14s

What software could I use and how would I go about it?

@zShinra
that sounds like skrillex took some of the vocals from his vault (he used to be a singer in a band so thats where his vocal cuts come from), and ran it through bitspeek

if you use Fruity Loops you can get pretty close using different time warping options on the sample and also the stock plugin "Pitcher" lets you mangle things pretty nicely, but Bitspeek will get u that a lot easier. hope that helps!

The main synth in the drop of this haywyre track sounds like some kind of saw with a filter and some processing, but every time i try to make it it doesn't sound right.
Anyone know how he made this? https://youtu.be/3fZsb5FJslw?t=46s
Thank you  :)
