nickbrainard - solitude [Album]
« on: January 15, 2016, 10:23:05 am »
Hey everyone! I've spent the past 3+ years producing my first full-length album, and finally feel satisfied with it. I plan to release it for free once I finish getting vocals on two more tracks. It is a reflection of the great loneliness I felt while working on it, and making it was the only thing that got me through sometimes. Let me know what you think!

Hey Nick,

I listened twice to samples of your album, getting my ears a few hours of rest in between.

Some of your songs sound very bright to me. A bit ear fatiguing, in fact. Around 17:40 for example, I think the (supersaw like) synth sounds too bright for my ears. 36:37 is another of those moments.

Nothing dramatic, making a gentle roll off on the high end of the synths would fix the problem. I think those mixes will have a fuller, more bass heavy sound but lowering the high frequencies. It's not in all your songs, though.

I like the genre and the musicalty overall. I would download an album like this.

I hope others hop in on this topic and let us know what they think about the mixing.

Thanks for the listen, I appreciate the feedback man. After a thorough re-listening, I agree with the brightness on the big saw drops. Again, thanks!
