I did something similar to this during a sound design practice session, using granular synthesis. Try something in that vein and mess around with the settings, and do it with a vocal part/chop!

Here's the FLP:

- FL 12.2
- Sylenth1
- iZotope Ozone 5 & nodes

I think those are the dependencies, but ya enjoy~!

I built a computer around 8 months ago with tons of RAM and an SSD and it's worked like a dream so far. Installed everything onto it. Samples load instantly, I can have multiple extremely complex projects open (at the same time!), etc. I think it's worth the investment! Though all of the parts need to work in conjunction to make for a better production environment. Even one subpar piece of hardware is enough to slow down the whole workflow

Sounds like a simple pluck sound to me. in Sylenth you could do this by having a bunch of saw voices with retrig turned off, detuned slightly, lowpass filtered, and then put the cutoff of the filter on an envelope for the pluckier sound. If you want me to post a screenshot and example recreation, I can try to get it more precise

That would be awesome! I actually do use sylenth as my main soft synth.
Kk cool. It looks like I was wrong about the saw and detune level. Looks like it's square and half pulse

No idea, but 41khz is standard so you should keep it on that! The max frequency you can generate with a 41khz sample rate is 20.5khz (S.R./2), and the limit of human hearing is around 20k (and diminishes the older you get). So I don't see any reason to keep it any higher than 41khz - also it was probably being slow because it was trying to generate a spectrum filled with supersonic frequencies lol! (that's my theory at least, probably wrong)

I have a thread about this already, but am going to post here anyways: https://soundcloud.com/ninthparallel/sm-remake-rough-parts/s-aFlyC

Sad Machine remake! It was a bit obsessive, just something to help warm up for my actual music

i'd be curious to hear about how you did the pad in the drop/chorus, it sounds SO accurate.
So first off, I remade the pad in the intro - this is important because it's a main layer in the chorus section. In the chorus it's the same synth without any filtering! There's also an additional layer of a stereo-ized soundfont (the choir one) playing very high notes, this is where you get the airy, floaty atmosphere from

There's a lot of detail in this, anything specific you guys want to know? I'll do my best, it's a bit hard describing it.

If it comes to it, I might just upload the project file (w/o the vocal stems of course). but before then, does anybody have specific questions?

Sounds like a good idea, anyone can make a thread about this in the Samples section of the forum. Message me the link and I can sticky it! Just set up a public google drive or something.

Can you post the upload again? It doesn't seem to work for me - if you've set it to private please share the private link!

Sorry!! Should be working now: https://soundcloud.com/theanonymouspanda/infinitum-chords/s-Yq06A
Closest one I've heard yet! great job!

Since there are two threads about this, I wasn't sure which to post in so I picked the one with the most replies. I actually didn't see Ninth Parallel's post on here until after making this, so i ended up using a slightly different method

My remake of chords: https://soundcloud.com/theanonymouspanda/infinitum-chords

What i used:
-Sylenth for everything... 4 osc, two saws, one triangle, one square all slightly detuned, lots of voices
-Lowpass filter cutoff --> Filter envelope: short Attack and Decay, no Sus, long Release.
-Rather than using Arp setting as stated i drew the chords in midi at 16th notes.. I'm going to try again with the arp technique
-Decimate distortion

Really looking forward to the full release! Also saw your Sad Machine remake in a different thread, that was amazing. Inspired me to try more sound design remakes like this

EDIT: updated link. tried out the Arp method and added Pitch envelope, also got carried away and added some other stuff lol. obsessed w this chord progression

I'm sure that this topic has come up a countless number of times, but I was wondering how others have been going about trying to remake the bit crushed pluck sound in Infinitum.
I know most people use Sylenth, and that's what was actually used for the pluck, but I was wondering I guess how I should go about improving my attempt so far I did in GMS.

Got a lot of people asking about this sound, I don't want to spoil the fun but I can give a few pointers after listening to your attempt:

Decimate distortion played a large part in making the sound sound the way it does - so be careful about what kind of bitcrush/distortion you use. I used Sylenth's built in decimate distortion.

Make sure your filter envelope lets the sound breath a little more, yours sounds a little too quick on the decay - also use lots of voices! lots and lots of voices

I didn't know that infinitum was out yet. :O
It's not out yet but here's the teaser video, for reference to the plucks : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3M_1o0XZhU
