Would love to hear your thoughts on this! Blended a lot of different genres together.

When I listen to a piece, a deciding factor in determining if a track is truly great is the effort put in to produce the track. Simply pitching or slowing a pre-existing work, although may sound cool, can really be done by anyone. It is hard to draw the line, but the way I see it, if you bought a T shirt and decided to stretch or shrink it to a different size, and told me you produced it, I would laugh at you.  ;D

HAhaha I love how out there you are with your music. I think it's great experimental stuff, I enjoy it but I doubt a lot of other people will have the patience or open mind to take it in.

I really enjoyed the way it began and progressed but I think after getting to the halfway point, things started to feel really repetitive for me. Just not enough variation to keep me engaged.

heh thanks man! I appreciate you taking the time to give me some feedback. It's tricky, I actually spent a ton of time messing around with not just the velocity of the notes for the piano chords but also their placement. Offsetting each note of the chord a tiny bit, hmmm I'm gonna use this as an excuse to say its time to upgrade my free piano vst! maybe?! hahaha paired with some fabfilter reverb and no one will know my secret  ;D

I always come back to TPF for a good dose of interesting perspectives, I put this song up yesterday:

Would love to get hammered with criticism (don't worry I can take it without being offended), all I want is to get better
show me no mercy

Finished Tracks / Re: New track ! Need some serious feedback on it !

Just like everyone here, I agree, this is a good idea but just be aware how soundcloud compression will affect your songs. I feel like the original file was a cleaner product however when you master leave a bit of headroom otherwise soundcloud will crap all over everything you worked for. Your everyday listener will probably not hear the difference but just something to think about!

Hmm were the pops and clicks intentional? If so I get the vibe you are trying to go for but it kinda distracted me from getting further engaged in the track. It could be nice if used sparingly but it almost seems too excessive.

Hmm I really don't have much experience with the genre you are working with so take my feedback with a grain of salt. For me the biggest thing that kept me from liking this was the consistency between the drums, the hihats seemed to be cutting through pretty well but your snares just sound like they could be punchier and much more defined to match the hats. I'm not sure if this was your intent or not but I feel it could make the track, overall, stronger if the snares were a little more defined?   :P

This post needs to be resurrected. I had an epiphany similar to this last week. For the last few years I struggled completing projects because I didn't have a solid vision for my songs. I would also add that it is really important to learn more about yourself and your creative process and try to have an efficient system down for you to continue driving towards track completion. It will only make getting your ideas out easier and faster!

Inspiration/Creativity/Motivation / Re: Do you listen to your own music
« on: November 15, 2016, 03:53:15 pm »
I always listen to my music after completion now, usually for a couple weeks. I try to critically listen on as many different speakers I can find so I can reference what I need to tune up better for the next track. I used to get really tired of my tracks but lately after doing music for a couple years I feel like its been much easier to listen to now that I'm making songs that are more on par with my standards. In the past it was more trial and error and although some stuff sounded cool I was never really proud of them and those should never see the light of day lol.

HAHAHAHAHA I'll take that as a compliment, I used Shelter as a reference track for when I was mastering. If only I was as good at mastering as Madeon :(

Awww MAN! reminds me of a Mr. Bill style. i love the buildup, it sounds nice and full but when it hits 1:02 I wish there was more elements present to fill up the song. I think just adding a few more layers could make this track really wild, in a good way :)
