Open to all comments/criticisms, everything is welcome.

Spent quite a bit of time on this one, took lots of layering to get it just right.
It's not quite chillout, and not quite synthwave, it's kind of in the middle of the two.

Absolutely love the percussion work at the beginning, and the kicks are phenomenal, and pair amazingly with the amount of sidechain you put on the other elements.
Nice logo too by the way.

I really like the Middle Eastern feel to this track, it works well with the trap vibe. You have a lot of unique sounds and synths as well which give the track a very fresh feel.
I especially like the pluck you added at 1:15 - it brings a TON of depth to the mix and gives the main parts some variation.

LOVE the chord changes at 1:36! Very beautiful. 1:51 does the same, and also sounds superb.

Nice sax, I was waiting for it to come in. It's mixed really well, along with the rest of the track. I would like to hear some more reverb on it I think, but it still sits really nicely in the mix and sounds great.

Very very nice track man. It honestly isn't what I usually listen to, but I love how unique it is, and it's incredibly well produced.

Excellent work. :)

WIPs / Re: Sound Check (Intro song to my album, WIP)

The quality actually isn't bad at all, it's coming through very clearly for me. It could've just needed some time to render and process on Soundcloud.

Love the intro with all of the different sounds being modulated and mixed around. When the main melody comes in, I was honestly kind of surprised with how "basic" of a loop it was, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's very catchy, and like I said the synths sound great. I think the kick could come out just a bit more in the mix with some more high end, maybe couple a quiet high hat along with the kick to make it stand out more, but the bass and rest of the percussion come in sounding nice.

Haha, love the deadmau5 hit there at 1:13. I think he uses that in "Animal Rights" if I remember correctly.
I like the filtering out starting at 1:41, it sounds really cool with the synth you made. Did you produce that in Sylenth? Massive? What did you use?

1:57 - wow that synth comes in clear as a bell. Great mixing on that one man. Love the flanging/phasing work too, it sounds like Daft Punk meets deadmau5.

I like it man! I think the main melody does get a little too repetitive after a while, but your sounds are mixed perfectly and the track never gets "boring" - there's always elements pushing it forward.

Nice work!!

Right off the bat, it sounds undermixed/mastered, like everything could be brought out more than they are.
The vocals definitely don't fit with some of the chords too, like at 0:27 for example, like ZUDDOX said.

One thing I definitely noticed too at 0:50 - the vibe and percussion is working really well with the vocals, but there's hardly any low end to back any of this up. I would add a sub bass, and a low pad to help give the track more energy.

Some things that are good though:
    - The gated synths are really nice, and I like the kick work.
    - The cymbals sound really nice, as well as the timpani rolls.
    - The piano at 3:09 is LOVELY. Would love to hear more of that!
    - Actually, all of the percussion is pretty awesome. I'm not huge on the snare samples you used, but that's just more personal preference than anything.

But yeah I would say the main things would be to mix and master this track to bring out the dynamics more, work on matching the vocal pitches with your chords underneath, and add some low end and low/mid.

Really like the snaps and the gated pluck synth at the beginning, they both fit with the vocals really well. I would say maybe add some additional high end on the snaps, and the vocals seems just a bit subdued, but neither are a huge issue.

Holy nice drop, Batman.
Absolutely love the vocal chopping/mixing work. The snap right before the bass was awesome as well and really fit the vibe. There's good synth work underneath, and I love the little additional effects at the end of every 4 bars - especially the little percussion hit riiiiiight before 1:00.
I actually don't think the bass sounds too bad either. I would say sidechain it to the kicks and stuff to give it more variation and life, but it's really not bad otherwise.

Really nice track man, I love it! Mix the final and you are good to go. Nice work with this one. :)

WIPs / Re: I made underground hiphop , trap, bass
« on: July 28, 2016, 03:26:55 am »
Love all the elements at the beginning, and they come together nicely at 0:17. However, the bass is way too wide. Stereoization with bass is almost never a good idea, you can achieve a much harder and intense effect by keeping the bass mono and in the middle of the mix.

That being said though, the vibe of this track does go really hard. I like the pulsing lead accompanied with the percussion, and the samples throughout add good layering and variation. Really liked the "Panda" sample too, would've loved to hear more of that.

I would like to hear some more processing in the different elements such as more reverb, EQing, filters, etc., but like I said the vibe is perfect for what you're going for.

I like the kick coupled with the bassy synth and pad at the beginning.
The synth that starts at 0:30 is just gorgeous, and goes great with the other elements. Everything that filters in after that also sounds great - I love the trance influence, yet it has such an emotional feel. It's really cool.

That being said though, I'm not the biggest fan of the kick that comes in at 1:14/1:15. I think it's a bit too dry, and too long as well. I would cut down on the 'out', and take off any reverb you have on it. Maybe think about cutting out the mid/high range as well - not the high register portion, but just the mid/high range could be dipped down a bit. Some more compression wouldn't hurt either.
The kick at 2:30 sounds excellent though, I would just use that one throughout to be honest and maybe bump up the velocity when needed such as with the section at 1:15.

Aside from that little nitpicky thing on the kick, I really like this track. It's unique, short, and gets the point across.
Love it man. <3

WIPs / Re: new track, let me know your thoughts.

Unfortunately the link doesn't work on this post, but the one you tweeted to me works just fine!

I like the filter work at the very beginning, the kicks sound nice coming in and the synthwave style synth is really nice with some good chords going on. The sidechaining is well done as well, and placed in such a way that breaks repetition really well and mixes things up.
I like the gap at 0:39 as well, but I'd maybe throw in some cymbal work or more white noise FX to make the transition a little more fluid.

Now at 0:48 - I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but there is some hardcore dissonance going on with the chords here. Even if you were going for this sound, it doesn't fit with the rest of the mood at all - especially if you said you were going for something that's beautiful (which the track is, aside from this).
It happens again at 0:55, 1:00, and so on.

I do like the short percussive synth that comes in at 1:06. And while all that is nice, the chords and general repetition gets to be a bit dry by the time I've hit 1:30. It starts to sound just like a 4 bar loop after a while. I would suggest adding some more percussive elements such as more high hats and maybe some varied snares/claps as well to help give the mix some more variation.

The section starting at 1:31 though is very nice and welcoming, especially since the previous minute and a half has been full-boar go go go. I like the filter effect you tried with the guitar-ish synth at 1:45 also, but I think I would make that cutoff smoother - it sounds as though your soundcard just gave out honestly - it's very abrupt.

Beautiful cover art by the way, forgot to add that. :)

The short part at 2:00 sounds really nice! I would love to hear a few bars of just that synth going with the percussion somewhere in the track, it sounds really cool.
I should add as well - I'm finding the kicks to be muddled out quite a bit throughout the track, which is too bad because I actually quite like them. They're very organic sounding and have some good hat work over top.

All in all, I really really like all the elements you have here, and I'm glad this is a WIP rather than a full track so you can continue to do some work on it.
My main things to focus on would be calming the track down a bit. It seems as though it's just trudging on and on like a train going full throttle sometimes - adding some lighter sections would be welcome and would give the listeners ears some time to breathe.
The kicks are nice, but there's hardly any other percussion going on. I would love to hear some high hat work, and some short snares/snaps/claps would be nice.
MORE OF THE BEAUTIFUL PAD THAT I CAN HEAR AT 3:00 PLEASE.  :P It sounds gorgeous behind those piano chords, and I'm left wanting a lot more of that. For some repetition, I'd throw in some sections of just that.

Hope this helps my man, and thanks for reaching out again - love listening to your work as always. <3

Not much to this one so far, but I really like where it's going.
Specifically looking for things to go over top of it. I'm gonna be adding some more high hats (especially rides every beat) and will be seeing what vocal samples sound like on the high end, but do you think any more synths are necessary?
Also is the sidechain a little much, particularly in the low/mid range?

Thanks for any and all comments/criticisms. <3

Could you have another listen and tell me what you think now?  Made a few changes.

Man, this new edit sounds so solid. The vibe is so crisp and laid back, there's enough variation to keep the energy going, it's a fantastic mix. All of the synths are so refined, and sound really well blending together.

One quick question though, did you change the DnB part up from last time? The percussion seems quite drowned out this time around, and actually gets just a tad muddy for me. It sounds kind of like it's trying to be at the front of the mix, but is filtered enough to have it sit farther back, and has a tad too much reverb on it, lessening the space between percussion hits.

Other than that though man, this is an improvement on what was already a stellar track, it might be ready to be released!! :)

WIPs / Re: new track

The piano at the beginning feels very natural, and sounds really solid - it has great presence in the mix. The chords are very brooding as well, and powerful. I like the dissonance in the progression.

Love the kicks when they come in coupled with the white noise, they sound really well mixed, but I would maybe cut the frequency off a little higher. I think they bring just a tad too much low end.
The pluck synth sounds really nice though, and I like the buildup it has up to 1:16. I do wish the length started to get longer on each pluck, but it still sounds solid.

I'd maybe consider putting another white noise little sweep there at 1:16 to make the transition to that new lead a little more natural, but I like the lead itself.

Nice break at 1:47. Very natural and hard hitting. It goes into a very pretty section as well, with the pluck and pad blending very well together. Maybe bring out the pad a little more though, I really like it!

Great transition into 2:18. Haha and there's your signature dubstep ending, building and then dropping at 2:33. I don't like this section quite as much as the previous track I critiqued, but it still sounds well mixed with the growls. Again, I'd maybe add one or two more just to break the repetition of sound a bit, but boy the percussion sounds nice. It sounds really nice throughout now that I think about it.

Glad you messaged me though, keep 'em coming! I really liked this track overall, better than your last in my opinion. :)

Finished Tracks / Re: Buku(Original Mix)
« on: June 14, 2016, 11:08:33 pm »
Really like the gentle intro, the synth comes in sounding quite nice and the claps behind it fit well and sit in the mix nicely.
Love when the pulsing sidechained synth really comes out at 0:38. The mixing on it is superb, what synth did you use to make that sound? Love the chorus effect building too as it goes - by 1:04 it has so much presence in the mix!

Your percussion all sounds really solid, but I think I would've maybe used a different kick sample. Yours is a bit too dry with a tad too much high end for my taste. It still fits, but just an opinion I had. The rest sounds really nice though.

The snare for the buildup starting at 2:59 has way too much reverb on it, and takes away from all of the other elements in the mix. I would recommend filtering everything else out as it comes in rather than drowning everything else out.

Was NOT expecting the dubstep section at all. This track definitely has two distinct vibes to it. While that section was done quite well, I think at least one more growl could've added some more variation to the drop, and the percussion does start to be drowned out here as well.
I also am left wanting a heavier section for the sounds used for the first 3 minutes of the track. Those elements never seem to fully escalate into much of anything, and then the dubstep section comes in. I think one more high end melody or perhaps some vocal work would do nicely to help give the first 3 minutes more depth and give it more of a purpose if that makes any sense.

I really love the sounds you used in this one though, and your mixing overall is well done! Nice track :)

WIPs / Re: New track would appreciate your feedback

Very unique intro, which I like.
The percussion samples that came in at 0:13 were really well processed and sounded great, but I was not the biggest fan of the kick when it came in at 0:21. Now that the other elements are coming in it sounds just fine, but I would maybe lower the high end right when it enters the track.

The sounds and elements used at 1:01 are very unique and original, but there's a little low end lacking. I would've loved to hear more low end sub and lower pads, I think it would help to fill up the space.

I like the arrangement of this track by the way, I never knew what was coming next which made it fun to listen to. It did get a little repetitive at times however, and some of your sounds could be processed a bit more with more effects and better timbre.

Not bad though man!

WIPs / Re: Hybrid Trap track in the works
« on: June 10, 2016, 08:08:48 pm »
Love the ethereal feel to the beginning of the track, the percussion hits also mix really well with the pads.

I LOVE when the low end comes in at 0:27, but I do have a couple of comments. I feel like the piano could be filtered more when it comes in, and I wish there were more hats filling up the space here. Other than that though it vibes really well and all of the elements mix together really nicely.
The mixing is also really well done, and no two elements are fighting for space.

Ahh 1:08 is awesome. I think it could use some variation with the main synth by maybe doing some pulsing volume modulation via sidechaining like you did when it built back up at 1:48, but it's still a really solid section.
And now that the pulse is continuing on as I reach 2:10, I'm loving it!

Very awesome track man, I think you are close to done on this one. Would love to hear the finished product, you should hit me with a link when the completed version is out. :)
