[HELP] KRK static
« on: January 07, 2016, 04:05:20 am »
So I've posted this in some other communities, asked some people, and no one seemed to know the issue so I am hoping someone here knows what's up.
Right after I built my PC and hooked up my 2i2 and KRKs, they started to make some static sounds. Now the sound is a lot louder and it's making it impossible to produce with them. I figure out that it is linked to my CPU usage, whenever I put my computer into power saving mode, the static goes away. I messaged KRK and they said that it's probably not a problem with the monitors since there is no static when they're unplugged, but I think they just want to get rid of me... I've tried using different cables, outlets, and usb ports for my interface and nothing seems to work...

They're right when they say it's not the Rokits. I also have the same issue. It's related to how the Scarlett 2i2 draws power from USB.

So I'm guessing there's no fix besides buying another interface?  :(

That seems to be the case, unless you want to crack open your Scarlett and mess around with its guts a bit. If you do some googling you can come across some fixes but I'm not daring enough to try them :P

Haha same here, seems like more trouble than selling the 2i2 and buying another interface

it's the interface. maybe you need to put a copper wire somewhere and do a ground to it ? (whatever it's called)
that might reduce the static~ try it try it

How does this work?  Just put a copper wire on the audio interface and just attach the other end anywhere to draw power away?  (sorry I have no idea how this stuff works lol)

This explains so much.  :-X
