I have used it, I found it wasn't as precise as I would like to be, I found the peak controller method to be a little bit better IMO but you gotta take that with a grain of salt because I'm bad lol

Each to his own i guess haha bassjackers would use grossbeat on their chorus leads. I would also use the fl limiter method

In as small amount of words possible, Sidechain is the process of using the output of one track to control the action of a compressor on a completely different track.
can it be said as "compressing A using B, instead of using A's signal" ?
i'm just trying to make it real simple for myself :P
Yes.

I used to use plugins like Volumeshaper, LFOTool and Kickstart alot but I've found that it's easy to get lost in how the curve looks instead of how it sounds.

ive always used a channel volume automation since day 1.
it always worked out for me (punch come thru, bass is not fighting with kick, etc...).
and u can adust the curve super easy and make it suitable for your kick since it isnt always the same.

its basically like nicky romeros kickstart, just easier, u dont have to mess around with presets, u can link leads, bass, pad, everything to it, aaand its free :)

It does seem that volume automation is becoming more and more the go to sidechain technique which is kinda cool

Anyone use the grossbeat sidechain in FL?

Yeah Gross beat is awesome for 4/4 tracks. However the Fl limiter and automation still get used for the special cases of Side-chain. I know a gate isn't strictly "Sidechain' yet it does tame audio signals in a fashion similar to sidechain.
