Jacques Pépin

Creation in the kitchen, for me, means constantly improving the familiar, tweaking and whittling all of my recipes over the years in a never ending process of making them better and reducing complication until I arrive at their essential qualities. The result is really tasty food that I (and you) can make as quickly and easily as possible. -JP

From his facebook

I find myself getting inspired outside of "getting inspired" books. Those things never really felt right for me.

I've always wanted to find out more about the human condition and myself. My main source of inspiration draws from just being alive, good and bad.

it seems that if you dive to deep into this particular topic, you kind of use it as a crutch instead of using it for what it's worth at the time.

suppose if you really need it, then go for it, but it's better to learn the self rather than to just be enamored by some one else's description of what you ought to do.

What are you doing to do what you need to do for yourself?

I've dedicated an entire year to reading inspirational/new-age/metaphysical/self-help books when I was homeschooled and what I've discovered is this.

1. People have conflicting opinions.
2. There's not enough time to read them all.
3. Reading/Owning a book on x subject does not make you an expert on x subject.
4. Doing what a book actually says is more important than reading the book.
5. Some knowledge is better off just not being known.

Seriously... I'm talking everything from tony robbins, napoleon hill, dale carnegie, eckhart tolle, dalai lama, david burns, robert green, malcolm gladwell, mihály csíkszentmihályi.

I've spent so much time reading "inspirational books" but at the end of it I've realized that the only way to get results is by doing and not reading. I'm not saying reading is bad but to get results from any sort of inspirational book you NEED to do and practice what it tells you.

I just thought I'd include that cause I think it's important to avoid the "inspirational books will solve my problems" trap. I've fallen into it before and the end result was just overanalysis of far too many different philosophies from to many different people.

Taken from the detroit techno chapter of Laurent Garnier's 2003 book Electrochoc. The quote itself is from Mike Banks a techno pioneer:

"Our music goes beyond us. Sometimes, I compare music to what a vampire obtains from the blood he sucks: eternal life. The energy we pass on stays behind and can touch people in 200 or 300 years time. I'm on earth to inspire other people, and maybe people who are not even on earth yet.'"

And this one really stuck with me too, it's simple but effective:
