Anyone know how to make a Porter Robinson-esque Arp?

Ex:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4BP_CQ2Azs

Drop is at the very beginning of the video, the shiny keys in the background that really add a lot, anyone know?

i assume you're talking about the 8bit-eqsue sound in the drop? if so, its most likely it was done in sylenth using the arp tool.
also instead of using a square for an arp like this like most people, porter tends to use saws for those kinds of arps instead as it gives the same effect as a square but isn't as sharp or overbearing as a square.

Anyone know how to get that high frequency screechy sound used by MUST DIE! Often?

Also I want to know people's thoughts on how the Main Vocaley bass sound in the drops of SMASH! By Barely Alive & Twine were made ?

Thanks!

Bit of a simple one but does anybody know how to create something like the lead sound in Madeon's Finale? I'm busy trying to put something together and, as usual, I've got sounds in my head that I can't put down in practice yet!

There's probably a patch/preset in existence somewhere but I'd rather take a step back from all that and try slapping something together myself.

Sounds like it's just a brass synth with some distortion and maybe some more detuning, also I think it's layered with a guitar.

I made this in like a minute with sylenth so please don't hardcore judge me or my incorrect notes. http://www44.zippyshare.com/v/nm92IKcL/file.html

Nice one, thanks for that. I'll have a mess about.

No hardcore judging here, I'm not really in a position to hardcore judge  :-X

Anyone know how to make that "zip" sound heard in mostly all psy trance songs?

Example heard after 2m14s:  https://youtu.be/3_YBIeU7VSU?t=2m14s

I treat almost all production forums like an /r/explainlikeimfive thread since I'm basically the biggest newbie you can find. I'm good at melodies and composition but my mixing/mastering skill is basically nonexistent, I don't even know all of the terminology, and when it comes to sound design I basically go open Massive, pick a random preset, modify a few knobs to get a cooler sound and then go save the patch. I really need help on how to improve past this.

For now, in regards to this thread, how do I make the synth in the drop of Grey's "Where Are U Now" remix? I know there is some percussion going on in the back to get that "hiss" effect but for the synth itself, I'm looking to make it in Massive.

I'd refer to the Flume synth thread someone started. They both have the automated attack element so you might get some tips there.

The LFO probably isn't what he's referring to though. The tone quality of this sound is really unique. Almost reminds me of a vacuum cleaner, hahaha

The main sound in Animal Rights (Wolfgang G / Mau5 - https://youtu.be/8QuFmY5q_Ck?t=1m1s ) :)

It's a very guitar-ish sound. It sounds like a distorted saw wave with a bandreject filter being modulated by an LFO. Also sounds like there's a phaser in there.

I gave it a very quick try but I didn't get very close if I'm honest.

Particularly this ''bass-house'' isn't my vibe but as a garage-head I really want to understand this bass sound, I'm pretty sure that is not so complex, but my attempts don't sound clear like this one, to me this bass sounds like some square waves with some distortion in an envelope, and of course compression and a 4x4 sidechain, some ideas my friends?

Ps* I have only a serum, sylenth1 and massive copy but should be enough.

I'm interested in vocal samples that pitch up (or down) within the one sample.

A recent and extreme example is the drop on Adele - Hello (Marshmello remix).

I've been just getting into monkeying around with vocal samples and pitch, but I haven't figured out how to change the pitch within one sample Maybe he's doing it with two overlapping samples? or maybe the original sample contained the pitch change?

Thanks!

This one is probably easy, but i might just ask: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Un8WBep-cs0 (the melody that starts at 0:15)
