Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: Microphone Recommendations
« on: January 22, 2017, 01:48:05 am »
Thanks guys,

I'll give them both a look - might either get the $50 one now or wait till I get paid and invest in the more expensive one.
I'm sort of a beginner so the $50 one might do for what I'm doing currently.

Cheers

there's other microphones that might be worth the investment while having versatility in function.

you might want to look into medium to small condenser mics, as they have many uses.

I'd also look into what type of micophone performs under certain scenarios when capturing audio.

snoball.

unless you want a "real" microphone, then there's a bit of a difference given context.

your music might not surpass the moment when it was created. therefore it doesn't translate to the future present moment you will eventually  hear the music in.

I suggest you still write music and gain as much knowledge in music and music production.

Take careful considerations as to how your work flow will be, also consider that your work flow might evolve. The daws do have specifications about their primary purpose and use.

even though it's the same things, they are a little different and those nuances do have designed purpose.

That's pretty phat.

Mixing/Mastering / Re: SUB Theory
« on: December 31, 2016, 08:28:33 am »
i have faith that my sub will project given the particular frequency content that's already associated with the sub bass.

my biggest concern is accurately representing the sub bass frequency in relation to the audible content that is provided by the bass.

That being said, you can relatively have a sub bass at most keys, due to the fact that you're covering your overlap in the audible realm.

in order to get a more audible sub bass, it requires layers of distortion and or (one to a few) layers of audio that varies in waveform.

of course you should process the layers accordingly so that they fit as one cohesive element.

I also don't stray far from the F, G, C keys when writing music.

http://www.dictionary.com/browse/process

That being said, your input signal is being processed by the effects to create an output signal.

input>Equalizer>output

**read from left to right**

The processing aspect can come from various considerations based on the context and understanding that  you and/or another party has/have when discussing and using the term.

What is described above is a blanket explanation that can be used in  many forms that do involve processing.

That's pretty cool.

What are some challenges involved with getting this thing to run efficiently and effectively?

the thing about distortion is that it's a wave shaper.

So there's some things you can only get if you do alter the wave itself.

The whole choosing the right wave as a starting block is good, but the problem with that is, you might not actually be near what it is you want with out some fundamental understanding of how the waves are altered to begin with.

it might sound like a square, but it could just be a particular distortion on a sine wave.

Not to mention that there's different processing parameters in the synth and distortion unit itself. You sort of have to be extremely familiar with those aspects to replicate and be satisfied.

my friend who is majoring in computer science told me about this particular product.

It seems really cool and extremely versatile.

i'd be interested to see if you can manage to make a fully modular synth out of this thing.

best reccomendation is to invest in a strong computer, you wont regret it in the long term cause of workflow and speed
other than that, to save CPU is to bounce audio by freezing and use less cpu hungry vsts like sylenth, sylenth doesnt use much CPU and use stock plugins i think

This.

Maybe you could try to layer a bass you like, with a square/saw like synth. Then only distort that second bass slightly, or maybe don't even distort it at all.

the distortion adds audible content that would make it hard to hear on smaller speakers other wise.

make sure you ask the mastering engineering to get their preference.
