Mixing/Mastering / Dimensional Mixing
« on: April 05, 2017, 05:56:27 pm »
Hello to everyone seeing this.
I just wanted to know how to get control on the body of each sound.
Like what tools to use if I wanted the kick to feel like it's punching through to your chest or how to basically be precise on the dynamic range of each sound.
And I'm average on mixing with a working knowledge of how most tools work, but all solutions are appreciated.
Just let me know if you guys have any tricks I could use

Mixing/Mastering / Steps to achieve loudness
« on: March 30, 2016, 04:19:35 am »
So I have been producing for 2 years and I wanna know how I can make my tracks loud.
For a bit,I was using AOM limiter and pushing a lot on it,but there was a sort of noise produced in the kick,as if the kick's release time was increased. The noise sounds a bit like the lower peaks of the kick that getting really nasty after the limiting.
How can I go past this and How do you make your tracks Loud?
Please explain briefly.

Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Help!;Production Tips and Tricks

What I need help with is:I have a drop, and I want to insert a riser of 8 bars into the project, and I want this riser to play only when the drop is playing.I want to know how I can achieve that besides slicing.Because slicing 8 bar risers with respect to the drop can be really tough and time consuming.
Please do explain any technique to get by this.

Mixing/Mastering / Difference between Gain and Volume
« on: March 15, 2016, 08:57:34 am »
This might be a rookie question. So I was just on Youtube, watching a studio session of a big producer, and one guy in the comments was basically saying that not many people know the difference between Gain and Volume.
So could anyone tell me if there's a difference, and if yes, what is it?

Mixing/Mastering / Mixes like professionals
« on: March 10, 2016, 05:13:45 am »
I'm pretty sure all of us layer. Most of us layer leads and what not.
Almost every time I'm done with a mix,my final mix is too heavy to listen to.
I'm not sure if it's called headroom or what, but I want to be able to make mixes that are lighter, like the professional tracks.I mean, professional tracks have a lot going on,however it doesn't sound like it sounds like all the layers of let's say leads, sound like one particular lead.
I know people will say EQ.
I eq with respect to a PITCH FREQUENCY Chart and still not entirely happy with the final result.

Mixing/Mastering / Random Noise In the Mix.
« on: February 14, 2016, 10:59:33 am »
Hey guys,
I've been working on this track for a while and this just started two days ago,and Now I can't go to my backups cause my backups also have this.
So yesterday I started experiencing a white noise problem.
There's random white noise(which also exists in the track when I bounce it out) which appears to be coming out of no particular source.Like the there's a random stop in all the tracks in the arrangement and noise comes in and then it goes back to the way I created it and the way it was meant to be,except the Noise repeats itself after intervals.
I'm using Logic Pro X and I've never had such an issue with any DAW.
I've had a similar issue with FL Studio, except the White Noise didn't exist in the Bounce.
Could anyone help me in resolving this?

Mixing/Mastering / Understanding Phase
« on: January 23, 2016, 04:56:57 am »
I'm really really weak on this topic.
All I really know is phase can really mess up and make up the mix.
So Could anyone address the following:
What is Phase? Linear Phase?
Signs to recognise in Phase or out of Phase?
How to adjust the Phase of a sound?
And ways for phase cancellation?
Also,can stereo width affect phase?If yes,then how?

Consists of the progressive rock type sound that I really enjoy.
I would really like your thoughts on it.

Mixing/Mastering / Mixing in 3 Dimensions
« on: January 16, 2016, 12:46:06 pm »
Basically,I've realised that when people say all sounds should have their space,it's about the stereo width and depth.
Now what are the tools you could use to emulate a deeper and a wider mix?

Mixing/Mastering / Tips for Clean Mix like Professionals
« on: January 14, 2016, 04:37:16 pm »
I've been told by many guys that instruments should have their own space.
This involves widening the sound and also panning.
But as far as I can tell from how much Dance Music I've been listening to for the past 2 and a half years,I've yet to hear a professional track with extreme panning or even to an extent that you can really make out that it's favouring one side more than the other.
Take Hardwell's latest single,Blackout
If you haven't heard it already, give it a shot.

As for the drop,I can make out that the leads are widened, but I haven't heard an instrument that's panned.
Can anyone explain, how these professionals are doing their Stereo Imaging and just how exactly are most of the instruments occupying space at the centre?

Mixing/Mastering / Headroom in Mixdown
« on: January 13, 2016, 02:01:43 pm »
So I have a question.
What are the advantages of keeping headroom in your Mixdown?
I understand that this would be useful if you're Eq-ing on the Master Channel.
But I'm not really Eq-ing on the Master Channel except cutting everything below 20Hz and everything after 18000 or 19400Hz.
So does the Headroom,in anyway, help in processing better or help in achieving a better sound?
